Thank you for your patience as we figure out the 2021-22 WYBA season. All of the information below is contingent on COVID-19 restrictions and gym space.
1. TriTown Basketball (Girls 3/4 grade/Boys 3-8 grade)
The TriTown basketball season typically starts at the end of November (after Thanksgiving) and games are played on Saturdays starting the first week of December. Away games could take place in Weston, Lincoln, Framingham, or Maynard. Practices are once a week and happen on weeknights. The nights depend on coaches’ availability. The season ends by the first week of March and there are no games on weekends of Winter and February break.
2. Girls Sudbury League (Girls 5-8 grade)
Bantam (5th/6th): practices and games will be on Wednesdays (7 – 8 pm)
Cadet (7th/8th) practices and games will be on Wednesdays (8 – 9 pm)
This season will start the week of November 8th and playoffs start the week of February 27th. Additional/Optional Practices: If SYB can secure more gym space in Sudbury, we may offer some additional/optional practices on a couple weekends.
In order for the league to run, there will be players from Sudbury and Lincoln as well. We will do our best to try to get Wayland players on the same team as at least one friend. Questions about this, please email Steph Gallaway (TriTown and Sudbury commissioner) at
tritown@waylandbasketball.org.
3. MetroWest League (Boys 4-8 grade; Girls 4-8 grade)
The MetroWest League is a competitive basketball league which requires a tryout. Practices are twice a week and start in the middle of November. Typically, games start in the beginning of December on Sundays and continue until team playoff runs end in March. Travel to games can range from next door in Weston to about 45 minutes away in Foxboro. Typically there is a game the second weekend of Winter break and both weekends of February Break.
Players who would like to participate in the Metrowest Basketball program must register for Metrowest by October 11 BEFORE the evaluations take place. Evaluations for Metrowest teams will be held on Saturday, October 16 (rain date October 17) from 10am-4pm at the outdoor courts near the entrance of Wayland High School. Each grade level will be assigned a specific evaluation time that will be posted by October 12. Players may not attend evaluations unless they register in advance. There will be no “day of” registrations.
Whether or not evaluations are conducted will be dependent upon the number of players registering and may not be necessary for all grade levels. Players and families will be contacted if evaluations are not required.
Please forward any questions to MW Commissioner Mark Mason at mwboys@waylandbasketball.org or mwgirls@waylandbasketball.org.
4. K-2 Update
Wayland WILL NOT be offering our K-2 Program this year. However, We are working to secure a place for k-2 players to play basketball this winter with another local town. As soon as we know the results of that negotiation, we will let folks know.
