Greetings from Wayland Youth Basketball!

We have two exciting updates. First, mark your calendars as registration for the 2024-2025 WYBA winter programs will open up on August 19th! This includes our Travel and In-Town leagues, as well as our K-2 Winter Skill Academy. Hoop season comes fast with evaluations done in late September and all teams formed by mid October. You can register on our Wayland Youth Basketball website at https://wyba.teamsnapsites.com. The website will be updated in the coming days.

Next, I am very pleased to announce the launching of our new WYBA Community Service Program. This program has been a goal of ours from day one, going back to when I first joined WYBA in 2022 and will be split into two categories:

  1. Scholarships & Grants:Summer Basketball Camp Scholarships, College Campus Visits, Academic Trips/Services, SAT/ACT Prep, and tutoring. All current and former members (attending WHS) are eligible to apply.
  1. Wayland Community Sport Projects: In continuing our efforts to do our part in improving the overall athletic experience for ALL of our Wayland youth athletes, WYBA has created a fund to be used specifically for future projects. Potential projects may include but are not limited to: new uniforms for our middle school and high school basketball teams, new baskets in our other school gyms (now that WMS is done!!), new flooring in WMS, and new scoreboards in the WHS fieldhouse.

With that, the first recipient of a “Camp Scholarship” is rising WHS senior and varsity basketball player, Ido Geffen!! Ido is a 4.0 student and has aspirations to be a college basketball player while pursuing a degree in Engineering. WYBA was thrilled to offer Ido a “full ride” scholarship to attend the Harvard and MIT Basketball Prospect Camps!
